Members of the National Association of Women Business Owners® (NAWBO®) are a part of the largest dues paying organization for women entrepreneurs and the voice of the nation’s over 10 million women-owned businesses.  A NAWBO® membership offers women-owned businesses a national and local platform to tap into the power of an already established community of women entrepreneurs.

Monthly Meetings:

  • The South Florida NAWBO® Chapter meets the 2nd Thursday of each month in the Fort Lauderdale area.

  • Networking starts at 6 pm followed by a three-course plated dinner, a speaker presenting on a topic relevant to women business owners, and ending with Chapter business and announcements.

  • Women business owners can attend two meetings as a guest. In order to continue to attend monthly meetings, an application for membership must be submitted.

Coffee Meetups:

Monthly local Coffee Meetups are held in cities around South Florida for members and guests to meet between the monthly meetings.

Virtual Meetings:

  • The South Florida NAWBO® Chapter meets for Virtual Networking once per quarter.

  • The meeting starts promptly at 6:30 pm and ends at 7:30 pm.

  • Attendees are paired up and put in breakout rooms to network for 10 - 15 minutes during the hour.

  • We also have a Maximize Your NAWBO Membership Virtual event each month hosted by our Membership Chair.

Girls Night Out Events:

We hold Girl’s Night Out (GNO) events about once per quarter to build relationships outside of our businesses and have some fun! These are typically local from Miami-Dade, Broward, or Palm Beach.

Annual Retreat:

Yearly in June, the chapter will book a hotel for an overnight stay full of fun and relationship-building. This is the first event hosted by the incoming President. Typically, Friday night we host the Board Installation Dinner, followed by a NAWBO After Dark event (what happens at NAWBO After Dark stays at NAWBO After Dark!). Many members and guests stay in the hotel overnight, and Saturday starts early with breakfast and a line-up of inspiring speakers, vendors, and activities.

Board Installation:

The NAWBO fiscal year runs from July 1 - June 30, so the new board installation meeting is every June. This is a celebration of all the NAWBO past presidents coming to support the outgoing board and welcoming the incoming board. There is also a passing of the gavel by the past president to the new president. The board installation dinner and annual retreat are often combined on the same weekend.

We encourage our current members to bring guests and spread the word about our wonderful Chapter!

  • "I have formed long-lasting personal and professional bonds with my fellow NAWBO-ettes. Every single one of these women would not hesitate serving as an ally and sounding board at a moment’s notice."

    - Gina Cadogan, Cadogan Law

  • "The young & innovative leadership in NAWBO finally got me on the Board.  Best thing I’ve done this year.  As Publicity chair, I am learning how to get the NAWBO name out there.  This has launched me on the road to publicizing  my business, as well."

Carol Wechsler, Center For Professional Accounting

  • "I joined NAWBO a few short months after launching my own business and it was the best decision I ever made. Thanks to my NAWBO sisters, I’ve learned QuickBooks, hired an excellent employee, found a new office and been referred new business. However, even greater than all that is the fact that I’ve made some incredible new friends. We’ve shared some fun times and we are genuinely there for each other. We’ve been there to support each other in our business as well as personal milestones."

    - Inez Romaguera, Strategic Benefits

  • “Birds of a feather flock together – I love our chapter because we build and foster lasting relationships with amazing and brilliant women who are the top of their field and leaders in our community.  We have the will to win in business and the heart of gold for each other!!”

    - Melinda West,  The Hiring Company
